An international congress of soil scientists will be held, dedicated to 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev
On June 21-23, 2023, the International Scientific Land Congress will be held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, on the topic "Climate change and sustainable land management." The main purpose of the congress, organized by the Federation of Eurasian Societies of Soil Science, which will be held in Azerbaijan, is to study and discuss the latest achievements in the field of soil science, as well as to expand cooperation. The chairman of the organizing committee of the event is Academician Garib Mammadov, President of the Federation of Eurasian Societies of Soil Science. The congress will focus on an interdisciplinary approach to soil science with a particular focus on research, innovation and technological developments in land use and management.
The Eurasian Federation of Soil Science Societies was established in 2012 on the initiative of soil scientists from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan. Since 2016, soil science societies of Romania, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia have joined this organization. Every 3 years, the leadership of the federation is entrusted to one of the participating countries. The main goal of the Federation is to exchange information on the dynamic part of the soil, the formation of soil fertility, soil resources and their rational use, agroecological and environmental assessment, pollution, erosion, etc., to create a bridge between soil scientists on topics and to ensure the identification of solutions to emerging problems.
